The under-construction Burj Dubai, which will soon be the tallest building in the world, is currently the planet’s second-tallest building at 1,536 feet. It is now taller than the Petronas Towers in Malaysia, which is 1,483 feet high, and it will soon rise higher than the current record holder, Taipei 101, which is 1,670 feet tall. “This is another proud moment for Dubai as the city’s iconic tower continues to scale its way upward to become the tallest building in the world,” said Mr Mohamed Ali Alabbar, the chairman of Emaar Properties, which is developing the building. “From now on, every new level and every additional metre on Burj Dubai will be the culminating steps in building an architectural and engineering marvel that reiterates Dubai’s global capabilities.” TRD
