Big retailers eye Williamsburg development

A large new development is likely to soon bring national retailers to a prime section of Williamsburg. The Chetrit Group recently closed on the purchase of three properties on Metropolitan Avenue between Keap and Rodney streets, according to public records, adding to the firm’s existing holdings on the same block. The deal gives Chetrit 100 feet of frontage on Metropolitan Avenue for a project of approximately 200,000 square feet. Chetrit intends to construct a building with a street address of 502 Metropolitan Avenue. Winick Realty Group, which is handling leasing for 502 Metropolitan, says the majority of the building, or up to 200,000 square feet, may be used for retail. more By Gabby Warshawer
