222 East 41st St. sells for $319M

The Wells Real Estate Investment Trust II has purchased 222 East 41st Street, a 25-story Midtown building, for $319.8 million, according to official filings. The 391,000-square-foot glass-and-granite tower near Grand Central Terminal earned Zeta-Ceres of Katonah, N.Y., a $109 million profit in a short time. Zeta-Ceres paid $210.8 million for it in 2004. The Class A building, between Second and Third avenues, has views of the East River and the Chrysler Building. HOK’s design earned the 2002 Build New York award winner for new construction. Jones Day, the nation’s fourth-largest law firm, is the building’s principal tenant. TRD
