Studios are becoming rare in new residential developments. In a sampling of 20 Manhattan condo projects over the past two years, only 325 of the 3,674 units, or about 9 percent, were studios. None of the 138 units at Extell Development’s Ariel West and East at 100th Street and Broadway or the 410 units at or 20 Pine The Collection in the Financial District were studios.
