Dems urge lifting Fannie, Freddie caps

 House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank said Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should be allowed to temporary increase their portfolios to ease the credit crunch. Senator Charles Schumer has introduced a bill that could allow the government-sponsored mortgage titans to increase their portfolios by 10 percent, or nearly $150 billion, for a year.
