Residents sneak appliances into apartments

 Many New York City apartment buildings prohibit the use of private washer-dryers, but some residents are sneaking machines into their units — and appliance stores admit to making “clandestine deliveries.” Others are getting rid of their washers and dryers or avoiding purchasing them at all for fear of getting caught.
