City Council landmarks Sunnyside Gardens

The City Council unanimously voted to approve a landmark district for the 77-acre Sunnyside Gardens, creating the largest historic district in Queens. The community was planned in the 1920s and was modeled on a British garden city. The landmarking process lasted four years. Some residents said the landmarking was too restrictive.
