A local council has rejected Donald Trump’s plan to build “the world’s greatest golf course” on the coast of northeastern Scotland. The Aberdeenshire Council rejected the plan for two 18-hole golf courses, 950 apartments, 500 homes and a 450-room hotel on a 1,400-acre Trump-owned property. Environmental concerns, including the protection of seven species of rare birds, were cited. Trump, whose mother was born in Scotland, vowed to appeal. Residents derided the “Trump International Links” plan as a gated community that would ruin pristine coastal views.
