Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff, the driving force behind the city’s biggest
development initiatives, has resigned effective Dec. 31 to become
president of Bloomberg LP, Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s global information
services company. Bloomberg said Doctoroff’s lasting influence on the
city would be larger than Robert Moses’, the famous city planner.
Bloomberg said the city’s Conflicts-of-Interest Board gave him approval
talk to Doctoroff about the Bloomberg LP job. Doctoroff pushed for the
redevelopment of Hudson Yards and Willets Point, near Shea Stadium in
Queens, as well as the mayor’s congestion pricing plan. Doctoroff was
also the architect of the failed efforts to build a Jets stadium at
Hudson Yards and win a bid for the Summer Olympics. more [Post] and more [NYO] and more [NYT]
