State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has vowed to revive enforcement by
his office’s Real Estate Finance Bureau. Real estate attorneys say that
over the last two years, the bureau has not followed through on
investigations of developers accused of shoddy construction. Cuomo said
that as the number of offering plans soared, enforcement personnel were
shifted to reviewing plans. New staff for the Real Estate Finance
Bureau could be paid for by increasing the fees for large developers’
offering plans to $30,000, under legislation Cuomo will file.
