8th Ave. tower could be built over tenement

An Office Tower Planned By Boston Properties On Eighth Avenue between
54th and 55th streets could be built over a tenement that still houses
two residents. The tenement at 261 West 54th Street is in the middle of
the project’s south side of the project, known as 250 W. 55th Street.
Mort Zuckerman’s firm filed plans last week for a 25-story tower at 250
West 55th Street, though the tower was expected to reach 39 stories,
indicating it could be built in stages as issues like the tenement and
air rights transfers are sorted out.
