The developer of One Brooklyn Bridge Park, the 449-unit residential building being built along a planned 1.3-mile waterfront park, is working to bring a supermarket to the condominium at the corner of Furman and Joralemon streets. Developer Robert A. Levine said, “Our initial push is for a high-end market with prepared food.” Under a state mandate, the park’s maintenance must be paid for by the economic activity along the green space. Critics say that financial model and the supermarket will detract from the park. Demolition work for the condos could begin as soon as next week.
