City inspectors are reportedly looking at whether wooden
supports were removed too soon after concrete was poured at the Trump Soho
tower, where a construction worker fell to his death Monday. DiFama Concrete
workers were pouring concrete at the 42nd story when a terrace collapsed. “It
is clear that the partial collapse occurred after a failure of the concrete
framework,” a statement from the Buildings Department said. “Forensic
engineers must answer the question of why the framework failed.” Inspectors
are also reportedly looking at whether a crane struck the building. DiFama, based
in Red Hook, Brooklyn, has been cited by the Buildings
Department 25 times since 2001, mostly for safety violations.
