Downtown residents want Fulton Street station

Downtown residents aren’t happy about the MTA’s decision to scale back the Fulton Street Transit Center. At a meeting with the MTA, residents called for the original plans to be revived. The MTA recently scrapped the costly glass domed building that would have poured light down to the subway platforms. “It would be utterly unconscionable to not build this project in a timely manner after 145 Downtown businesses were sacrificed to assemble the site and the entire population of Lower Manhattan has been forced to navigate around and through this massive dirty construction for years,” Community Board 1 wrote in a resolution.
