An 18,500-square-foot townhouse at 18 East 68th Street near Fifth Avenue has been listed by an investor group for $64 million. The 1905 home was designed by C.P.H. Gilbert, architect of many turn-of-the-century mansions. Developer James Rinsler paid $7.6 million for the house in 2003, when it was a rental building with nine apartments. The investor group paid $39 million for it in 2007 and relocated the remaining tenants. Known as the Sloane house, it was commissioned by Henry T. Sloane, heir to a luxury-furnishings emporium.
