City officials have confirmed that at least $55 million in public funding has been given to Forest City Ratner Cos. for its controversial $4 billion Atlantic Yards project. The project has received about $40 million of city funds out of the $205 million promised, along with $15 million in state funds out of the $100 million promised. The news comes after months of disagreement over whether the city’s Economic Development Corp. had finalized funding agreements for the project. Still unaddressed is the affordable housing portion of the project; Ratner had yet to apply for $177 million in affordable housing bonds for as of last month.
