Hamptons home prices down

It’s not exactly time for a fire sale of Hampton estates, but new numbers show that median home prices on the East End are dropping fast. Suffolk Research Service found that the median sales price in East Hampton dropped by more than 20 percent from its high of $1.2 million in October to $975,000 in January. The median price in nearby Southampton dropped from $999,000 to $815,000. But brokers say that while the $1 million to $3 million range is softening, the market’s highest segment is still thriving.
