A temporary roller rink is planned for the old Child’s Building at Coney Island, which was built in 1923 and has been mostly vacant since 1950. A boardwalk entrepreneur, Lola Staar, won a competition and received funding for the rink from Tommy Hilfiger and Glamour magazine. A reality show will document the revival of the building, which Taconic Investment eventually wants to transform into a restaurant and entertainment hall. Taconic also plans to build condo towers around it.
