Billionaire developer John Catsimatidis said that his stalled Fort Greene condo development will build a new supermarket to replace the Associated store at Myrtle Avenue and Prince Street that was closed in 2006 and demolished to make way for the project. Catsimatidis, owner of the Gristedes supermarket chain, plans to build four condo towers with 660 units. After the Associated was demolished, nearby public housing residents were left without a supermarket. Catsimatidis also said a pharmacy would be built at the development, which he put on hold last month because he lacked $500 million in bonds to finance it.
