The Post reports that Newsweek has reportedly dropped its bid to move to 100 Church Street, near Ground Zero, and instead is looking at 395 Hudson Street in Soho. The building houses hip-hop radio station Hot 97 (WQHT) and has made headlines for three different shootings and the efforts of the building’s owners, the District Council of Carpenters, to evict the station. Newsweek needs to move from its Midtown building, 1775 Broadway, before its rent is doubled. That building is getting a new glass facade to replace its pre-war brick facade. The Moinian Group is also changing its address to from 1775 Broadway to 3 Columbus Circle. Newsweek had been working on a lease at 100 Church Street with building owner Alex Sapir of the Sapir Organization. In its April issue, The Real Deal looked at where the city’s media companies are moving. TRD
