Real World to pick from many Brooklyn neighborhoods

Brooklyn brokers will have to wait a bit longer to find out which neighborhood will be buzzing over MTV’s The Real World setting up shop for the summer. An MTV exec says the reality show just needs to let its cast live in a place that’s accessible to Manhattan, so the list of candidates includes Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Dumbo, Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook and Coney Island. Not everyone is excited. Robert Lanham, founder of FreeWilliamsburg.com and author of “The Hipster Handbook,” said of the possibility that Williamsburg could be selected: “What seems absurd is that MTV is seeming to be discovering Williamsburg 10 years after everyone else did.” His Web site did a parody of  “Real World: Williamsburg” back in 2000.
