Officials investigating the Upper East Side crane collapse have found that a faulty part might have been produced in a Chinese factory, federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials say. The part was provided to New York Crane Co. by a bearings-supply company and was welded to the crane’s turning mechanism, which cracked on May 30, causing the collapse at East 91st Street and First Avenue that killed two workers.
