Writer buys at 15 CPW

 
Novelist, screenwriter, director and commentator John Ridley paid $6.65 million for a three-bedroom apartment at 15 Central Park West.

The writer and his wife Gayle closed on the 2,242-square-foot apartment 9G on June 25, according to city records published today.

Ridley joins other Hollywood notables who bought at 15 Central Park West, including producer Norman Lear and actor Denzel Washington.

Ridley wrote the novel Stray Dogs and wrote the screenplays for Undercover Brother and U-Turn, as well as the story for Three Kings. He is also a commentator for National Public Radio and the political blog Huffington Post and a regular panelist on MSNBC.

Also today, city records indicated that Sara Blakely, CEO of the women’s underwear company Spanx, purchased a 3,105-square-foot apartment on the 37th floor of 15 CPW for $11.89 million.

The condo, Blakely’s second at the property, was bought through an entity called Lovebirds, LLC, registered at the same address in Atlanta as Blakely’s company.

The apartment went into contract in April, 2006, and the sale closed on June 26 this year.

Blakely and former rapper Jesse Itzler also bought a 14th-floor apartment for $8.5 million.

Calls to Spanx were not immediately returned.
