The Landmarks Preservation Commission had a little bit of celebrity attention on Tuesday, when actors Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins spoke out against the St. Vincent’s Hospital expansion in Greenwich Village, saying they would only utilize its health care “as a last resort,” Sarandon said. Sarandon and Robbins, who live a block from the hospital, spoke along with 94 people during a six-hour public hearing. Across the street from the hearing, 100 health care workers, led by the hospital president, protested against the opposition, with signs reading “Let St. Vincent’s build.”
