Bloomberg unveils city inspections changes

Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced an overhaul in how the city regulates building sites yesterday, outlining how the city will share information between agencies and improve the inspection process. The 33 recommended changes are the product of a six-month study by the mayor’s office. The new measures aim to prevent deadly mishaps like last summer’s fire at the former Deutsche Bank tower, which city officials have said could have been prevented if the site had been expected every 15 days, as required.
