Upper East Side residents and preservationists are pressuring the Landmarks Preservation Commission to expand the UES historic district, which currently spans between East 59th and East 79th streets, staggered between Fifth Avenue and Lexington Avenue. The proposal would add 200 more buildings to the historic district, including the Kean House on East 65th Street and Lexington Avenue, which could otherwise be demolished to make room for a residential tower.
