Commercial real estate on Long Island is doing well enough to attract struggling home builders. David Scro, president of Melville-based Country View Properties, a residential developer, has begun work on an 8-acre commercial plot in Nesconset, though he would prefer to be building homes. One of the sites he’s just completed is a New York Sports Club, a swimming safety school and a developmental disabilities training center. “It will give us an income stream so we’ll survive the downturn,” Scro said.
