The city Landmark Preservation Commission could designate another 1,000 buildings as landmarks before Mayor Michael Bloomberg leaves office. The LPC has designated an average of 400 buildings per year under Bloomberg, compared to about 200 per year under Mayor Rudy Giuliani. New historic districts under consideration are in Prospect Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn and Ridgewood in Queens. An industrial neighborhood in West Chelsea was designated last month.
