Astroland lease in limbo

The only way that Coney Island’s Astroland will reopen next summer is if Thor Equities renews its lease in over next week. The developer, which gave owner Carol Albert a one-year extension during last-minute negotiations last year, did not comment. But owner Albert says she is ready to move on. “It’s really very difficult for us to keep trying to run a business on a year-to-year basis,” said Albert, who co-owns the park with her husband, Jerome Albert. “People have their lives to plan, so we really cannot wait forever.”
