A preservationist named Michael Perlman is fighting to preserve an abandoned chrome diner that was built in the 1940s in Greenwich Village. The diner, located at 357 West Street, was closed in 2006, and has since fallen into disrepair. Perlman, who has worked to rescue the Cheyenne and Moondance diners, also in Manhattan, has submitted a proposal to the diner’s owner to preserve the building’s structure. The diner has been known alternatively as Terminal Diner, Lunchbox Food and, most recently, Rib.
