Carhart Mansion listed for double purchase price

Cardboard mogul Dennis Mehiel and his wife have put their Carhart Mansion, a 10,350-square-foot duplex at 3 East 95th Street, on the market for a whopping $35 million, more than twice their purchase price in September 2005. Prudential Douglas Elliman superbroker Dolly Lenz has the listing, which notes that the living room alone is 1,100 square feet. The unit has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and 18-foot ceilings “in all major rooms.” Mehiel was rejected by the Dakota’s co-op board in 2002, while running for as the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor.
