Financial District attracts recent grads from UES

The Upper East Side, once a bastion for new New Yorkers living in their first rentals, seems to have lost its post-grad charm, leaving it with a high vacancy rate. The Financial District, in turn, has become a top destination for new city-dwellers, offering incentives like a month’s free rent, paid broker fees and free moving services. The median rent for the Upper East Side is $3,600 per month, while the Financial District’s median rent is $3,496.
