Big retailers eye small lots in Brooklyn

Before Target moved to Brooklyn, at Flatbush and Nostrand avenues, national retailers weren’t looking to move to the area. Now, brokers say the asking rents for ground-floor retail space within a two-block radius of Target has doubled or tripled in the last two years. Many retail properties on Flatbush sit on small lots, and some property owners say they are considering renovating the spaces to make them more appealing to large retailers.
