Rep. Charles Rangel never reported $75,000 on federal or state tax returns that he earned since 1988 in rental income from a villa he owns in the Dominican Republic, according to a lawyer for the congressman. Rangel’s rental profits from the Punta Cana Resort and Club varied between $2,700 o $7,600 each year. Rangel’s lawyer said he will probably file amendments to his tax returns for the years in question, and that Rangel did not know he had to declare the money as income.
