Chelsea high school closing

Bayard Rustin High School for Humanities is set to close by 2012, and will not admit any new students this fall. The school, at 351 West 18th Street in Chelsea, received a failing grade on its city Department of Education report card, and had a 49 percent graduation rate last year. In addition, the school’s principal was reportedly forced to resign last year after a Regents exam cheating scandal.
