According to the Post, rent-stabilized tenants of Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village will file a $40 million class-action lawsuit today against building owner Tishman Speyer, alleging that the company is trying to evict them unfairly. A separate $1 million suit filed January 2 by former Tishman Speyer property manager John Scott Walsh accuses the firm of “unfavorable and discriminatory treatment” of tenants. Since purchasing the property in 2006, Tishman Speyer has allegedly hired law firms and private detectives to evict tenants it believes have violated rent-stabilization laws.
