The Real Deal’s Sara Polsky took a walk through the sales office for 23 East 22nd Street with project architect Jason Long, an associate at architect Rem Koolhaas’ firm, OMA. The building is the first residential building in New York City by Koolhaas, who penned “Delirious New York,” a 1978 book on New York City high-rise architecture. The sales office at 27 Mercer Street, designed to look like the 18-unit building resting on its side, was opened to brokers last night. Long talked about the inspiration for the design of 23 East 22nd Street, the relationship between the building and neighbor One Madison Park — the buildings share developer Slazer Enterprises — and Rem Koolhaas’ role in the project.
