Real estate services firm Houlihan Lawrence announced earlier this month that it will lay off
10 percent of its employees, and has closed five of
its 30 offices in the past six months, because of the economic crisis.
And Holmes & Kennedy has laid off workers and reduced hours, but
hasn’t closed any of its six offices. To bring in more business,
Houlihan is switching its focus to the Internet by increasing online
advertising and has established an alliance with listing service
Trulia.com. Houlihan has also opened a training center to teach agents
the use of networking tools like Facebook and LinkedIn.
