NY1’s Jill Scott talked to Sarah Burke of Prudential Douglas Elliman to understand what the abbreviations and symbols mean in floor plans. W/D in a floor plan means washer dryer, but Burke said it is important to ask if it’s just a hook up, or if the actual appliances are in the apartment. Two triangles means bi-fold doors, and a dotted line typically means a drop-in ceiling. An X over a space means it’s double height ceiling. Burke said understanding the floor plan is important before committing to an apartment so you can figure out how furniture will fit into the space.
