In the New York Times magazine this weekend, Tom Colicchio — founder and co-owner of the Craft restaurants and head judge of the Bravo television series “Top Chef” — talked about his homes, including his narrow kitchen. “It’s a New York City apartment kitchen,” Colicchio said. “I can’t open the refrigerator and the oven door at the same time.” Colicchio owns a house on the North Fork of Long Island, but rents an apartment in the city that has views of the Hudson River. When asked why he rents instead of owning in the city, Colicchio said, “I don’t need a tax break, and I can’t afford to buy the space and the view I am able to rent.”
