Openings and closings: Gourmet Land closed, Taco shop coming to Avenue A

On the Upper East Side, Gourmet Land, a gluten-free Chinese Restaurant On Second Avenue between 82nd and 83rd streets, has closed, and New Penang has opened in the space. Josie’s Kitchen, on Second Avenue between 82nd and 83rd streets, closed last week. Pie by the Pound, on Second Avenue between 81st and 82nd streets, has closed. Marta Bags, also on the Upper East Side, has gone out of business. Pelle via Roma, on Third Avenue between 75th and 76th streets, has closed, and so has Crumbs on the same avenue between 78th and 79th streets.  Arthur & Company on Lexington Avenue has closed. Zigzag Jewelry Design’s location at 1336a Third Avenue, near 77th Street, has closed; the company’s 963 Madison Avenue location, near 76th Street, remains open. In Midtown, Skyscraper Restaurant on West 33rd Street has closed. Secession, in Tribeca, is rumored to be closing in a few weeks. In the Financial District, coffee shop Klatch has “for rent” signs in the window. Note: correction appended.

Amid these closings, the Upper East Side’s Chinese Antiques & Arts is moving to an unspecified new location. A Taco shop is coming to Avenue A, next to Cafe Pick Me Up. In Red Hook, brewery Six Point has added another truck to its fleet. On the East End, the Axe Lounge is slated to open in the former Dune space in Southampton. TRD
