Construction firm M.A. Angeliades, which has done hundreds of millions of dollars in work on the city’s subways, schools and hospitals, has been charged with alleged wage theft. Manhattan prosecutors announced an indictment, charging that the owner and two top officials at the firm allegedly stole $600,000 in unpaid wages and benefits from their workers. The indictment charges the owner of the company, Merkourios Angeliades, 67; its executive vice president, Dimitri Malakidis, 56; and its vice president, Irena Angeliades, 35, with crimes including grand larceny, bribing a labor official and falsifying business records. After the arraignmen, lawyers for the company said they intended to fight the charges.
