Openings and closings: Bryant Park pop-up to open, Citarella to be evicted

Aureole has moved to Bryant Park and is slated to open this month. Also in Bryant Park, Tom Colicchio will open a pop-up shop, Southwest Porch, through September. A Schnitzel and Things food truck is coming to Midtown in July. JC Penney is gearing up for its July opening at the Manhattan Mall. The Fashion Institute of Technology plans a 10-story building on 28th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. Pizza Truck rolled out in Union Square near the Greenmarket over the weekend. Mari Vanna is now open for private parties at 41 East 20th Street. British chain restaurant Pret A Manger will open its U.S. flagship June 22 at 857 Broadway at 17th Street. Italian restaurant Piccola Cucina is set to open Wednesday at 184 Prince Street in Soho. Tpoutine, a French-Canadian eatery,  has opened at 168 Ludlow Street between East Houston and Stanton streets. Generra plans to open at 823 Washington Street this fall.

In Brooklyn, Black Horse Pub at 14th Street and Fifth Avenue in Park Slope will open in two weeks. Park Slope card store Scaredy Kat will move to a larger location across the street, in the former Star of India space at 232 Fifth Avenue. Sui Ren at 302 Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg has soft opened. Fort Defiance is slated to open at 365 Van Brunt Street at Dikeman Street. Calexico Carne Asada has opened up a permanent location at 122 Union Street at Columbia Street. Vegan raw-food eatery Rockin Raw has opened at 178 North 8th Street between Bedford and Driggs avenues.

Merkato 55 at 55 Gansevoort Street has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Extended Stay hotel chain has filed for bankruptcy protection. Popeyes on 40th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues has also filed for bankruptcy protection, as has Staten Island pizza franchisor Globe Restaurant Group. Noble Food & Wine at 7 Spring Street has shuttered after the landlords seized the property. Bread and Butta on Avenue C near 11th Street has received its third non-payment of rent notice. The Street Sweets truck on 55th Street and Sixth Avenue has been forced to find another location. Citarella is set to be evicted from its Harlem location at 461 West 125th Street. Kim’s Video, at 89 Christopher Street, is closing. TRD
