Openings and closings: La Lucha opening, Yoko Devereaux shuttered
Scott’s Hallmark Shop at 52 East 59th Street will close today, according to the owner. Searle at 1142-1144 Third Avenue at 67th Street and Cache at 805 Third Avenue at 50th Street have both closed, and the spaces are available for lease. South Williamsburg boutique Yoko Devereaux at 338 Broadway has closed. After a rent dispute, Jarnac at 328 West 12th Street closed Saturday. Pret a Manger has closed its six-month-old Location On Third Avenue between 44th and 45th streets. Patisserie and bistro Payard at 1032 Lexington Avenue has shuttered a month early due to an inability to pay the rising rent. Upper East Side jeweler David Webb at 789 Madison Avenue at 67th Street, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Cookout Grill at 214 First Avenue at East 13th Street has closed. Le Pere Pinard at 175 Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side has closed. Indian restaurant Deepan has shuttered on Lexington Avenue between 27th and 28th streets. The 52nd Street location of 99 Miles to Philly has shuttered, but the Third Avenue location will remain open. In Brooklyn, Tamari on Fifth Avenue and Union Street in Park Slope is slated to close today.
Traditional pub Gus and Gabriel has opened at 222 West 79th Street between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway. La Lucha, a boutique and taco shop, will open in two weeks on Avenue A between 9th and 10th streets. A Johnny Air Cargo location has moved from First Avenue to 214 Avenue A. The Salvation Army East Village residence at 347 Bowery is rumored to be reopening as a sushi joint called Koi.
A slew of stores are slated to open in Brooklyn. Obama Deli and Grocery is set to open on Myrtle Avenue between Vanderbilt and Clinton streets in Clinton Hill. Lot 2 opened for friends and family last week in the former Kitchen Bar space at 687 Sixth Avenue in Park Slope. Vue Restaurant and Lounge will open in Hotel Le Bleu at 370 Fourth Avenue in Park Slope. Seafood spot Aqualis Grill has opened at 773 Fulton Street in Fort Greene. And in Queens, the Waterfront Crabhouse at 203 Borden Avenue has reopened after being shut down following a fire in February. TRD
