Openings and closings: Organic Avenue opens, Ali Kat closes
Skater havens Quicksilver and Autumn launched a pop-up shop at 201 Mulberry Street between Kenmare and Spring streets. Earth-friendly retailer Organic Avenue is reportedly expanding to a spot on Suffolk Street — the chain already has two other locations at 101 Stanton Street and 43 Eighth Avenue. Baraza’s old home on Avenue C near Ninth Street has a new, as of yet unidentified, tenant. The recently shuttered Bounce Deuce at 103 Second Avenue Near 6th Street is reopening in October as a bar and pizza spot.
In Brooklyn, boutique Ali Kat is closing its 225 Court Street shop on the corner of Warren Street. The Cobble Hill shop’s last day of business will be Sept. 20.
Dive bar Lucy’s at 135 Avenue A between St. Mark’s Place and 9th Street will be closed until Sept. 10. The Annex, a bar and lounge at 152 Orchard Street between Stanton and Rivington streets is reportedly closing. Rumor has it that the space will reopen in September as a sports bar. A retail shop on 37th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues is going under … and taking its landlord with it. Greenwich Village restaurant Cru, at 24 Fifth Avenue on the corner of 9th Street, is facing eviction.
