If the new fountain splashes onto the granite ring then the design is terrible as the joy of Johnson’s fountain was that one could sit on the ring and not get wet while waiting for one’s date to arrive. Diller Scofidio + Renfro have ruined Lincoln Center but the real villains are the idiots who chose them and approved their outrageously inappropriate and ridiculously expensive designs.
