Tipsters report that Blarney Stone Pub in the Financial District has been closed for five days. Although this is hardly a good sign, it is reportedly not the first time the restaurant and bar, located at 121 Fulton Street between Nassau and Dutch streets, has temporarily closed without warning.
In the East Village, Zengo has opened at 22 Third Avenue on the corner of 9th Street.
West Village newcomer Café Gitane may have missed its projected summer opening date at 113 Jane Street, near the Hudson River, but restaurant owners pledge that the spot will be up and running by Nov. 16.
In Midtown, Southeast Asian restaurant Vong at 200 East 54th Street on the corner of Third Avenue will close this Saturday. The owners are currently looking at other venues in which to reopen in the near future.
Harlem will soon get a new mixed-goods retailer. The Easy Shopping Department Store has signed a lease for 9,300 square feet at the corner of 119th Street and Third Avenue, according to a press release.
In Queens, Uncle George’s Greek Taverna has closed at 3319 Broadway in Astoria.
In Brooklyn, Paulie Gee’s has signed a lease in the former Paloma space at 60 Greenpoint Avenue in Greenpoint. Also in Greenpoint, the Manhattan Inn will open tomorrow at 632 Manhattan Avenue. In Crown Heights, Tavern on Nostrand at
813 Nostrand Avenue has shuttered and Crow Hill Bistro has opened in its place.
