Baseball teams move west for spring, east coast suffers

The New York Mets are finding fewer spring training companions this year, as other teams are heading off to the western coast of Florida and Arizona to gear up for the regular season. St. Lucie County, where the New York Mets train in the spring in Port St. Lucie, has the second-highest foreclosure rate in the United States. Tradition, the company that owns naming rights for the team’s stadium, has failed to pay its annual fee to the county. The Baltimore Orioles left for Sarasota after training for years in Fort Lauderdale, and another Treasure Coast city, Vero Beach, lost the Los Angeles Dodgers to Arizona after the team had trained there for 60 years.
