From left: William Macklowe and Harry Macklowe
All is not right in the Macklowe house: William Macklowe and his father, Harry Macklowe, have parted ways — in the business world, at least — according to Crain’s. Sources say that the younger Macklowe has split from Macklowe Properties and has inked a lease for a full floor of office space at 126 East 56th Street, where he will launch his own company. Ironically, the building is one of a $7 billion portfolio that Macklowe bought in 2007, before being forced to hand it over to lenders when the market dried up. The rift between father and son has reportedly been caused by that $7 billion kerfuffle, as the company fights to hold onto its remaining assets, including 510 Madison Avenue. [Crain’s]
