Late “Golden Girl’s” apartment hits the market

Rue McClanahan

The Sutton Place co-op that belonged to actress Rue McClanahan, who died earlier this month at age 76, has hit the market for $2.25 million, according to the New York Times. McClanahan, best known for her role as Blanche Devereaux on “The Golden Girls,” had been preparing to sell the three-bedroom 430 East 56th Street apartment at the time of her death. Among the home’s details: a door disguised as a spice rack is actually a secret passageway to a bathroom behind the kitchen, and the door to the office is sculpted in the shape of a naked woman. It also has a 1,600-square-foot private garden. Steven Marvisch of Brown Harris Stevens has the listing. [NYT]
